Privacy Policy

Heard: Two-Way Live Captions, for iPhone
Effective date: 29 October 2026

The short version: Heard does not collect any data about you. Everything the app hears or sees is handled on your iPhone, in memory, and then discarded. We have no servers, no accounts and no analytics, so there is nothing for us to look at.

Who we are

Heard is made by CHGROUP - FZCO, which is the data controller for the purposes of this policy. If you have any question about privacy, write to heard@bychgroup.com.

What we collect

Nothing. Heard does not collect, store on our side, sell or share any personal data. On the App Store, Heard's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

The app makes no network requests of its own. It has no account system, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics or crash-reporting service.

Microphone

Heard uses the microphone to caption what people around you say. The audio is processed on your iPhone in memory, turned into text, and then discarded. It is never recorded, saved to storage or sent anywhere.

Camera

Heard uses the back camera for Lip view, a live close-up of the speaker's face shown next to the captions. On iPhone Duo, a running camera is also what allows the app to show your replies on the outer screen. Camera frames are processed on your iPhone in memory and discarded right away. Heard never takes photos, never records video and never stores or sends any frame. Face detection is used only to keep the close-up framed; it does not identify anyone.

You can turn Lip view off at any time. Heard keeps working without the camera.

Speech recognition and translation

Speech recognition and translation run on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Heard asks for on-device processing, so your conversations are not sent to us or to Apple's servers by the app. Your iPhone may download language files from Apple the first time you use a language; that download is handled by iOS and contains nothing from your conversations.

Spoken replies are produced on your device by Apple's built-in speech voices.

Saved conversations

By default nothing is saved. When the conversation ends, the captions are gone.

If you have Heard Plus and tap Save, that conversation's text is stored in Heard's private folder on your iPhone. It stays there until you delete it or export it. Exports go only where you send them, using the iOS share sheet. If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, saved conversations may be included in that backup, which is controlled by your device settings and Apple's terms.

Deleting a saved conversation in the app removes it from your iPhone. Deleting the app removes all of them.

Purchases

Heard Plus is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app checks your purchase with Apple's StoreKit on your device to unlock Plus features.

Third parties

Heard contains no third-party SDKs, libraries that collect data, advertising networks or tracking tools. The only outside parties involved are Apple, as the maker of iOS and the App Store, under Apple's own privacy policy.

Children

Heard is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it also collects none from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. Since we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to return or delete. Anything Heard keeps lives on your own iPhone, and you can remove it yourself at any time. You are still welcome to contact us with any question.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Heard handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships. If a change ever meant collecting data, we would say so clearly in the app first.
